Christiana Antoniou is currently studying Mathematics MSc at the University of Leeds.
Why Leeds?
Christiana studied Mathematics BSc at undergraduate level, and then decided to stay at the University for her masters degree. She said: “I chose the University of Leeds due to its prestigious ranking as a Russell Group University. Additionally, the course descriptions for both my undergraduate and postgraduate studies aligned perfectly with what I was seeking.”
Flexible optional modules
Christiana liked having the flexibility to study a wide range of optional modules. She said: “My passion for mathematics has always been a driving force in my life. The opportunity to delve deeper into the subject and gain a comprehensive understanding was a natural choice for my bachelor's degree. The knowledge I acquired during my undergraduate studies further solidified my decision to continue pursuing mathematics at a master's level.”
“One of the most rewarding aspects of my course has been the flexibility in choosing modules. I gravitated towards applied and pure modules over statistics, and having the freedom to select the modules that interested me allowed me to explore specific areas of mathematics I was keen on.”
“One of the most exciting projects I undertook during my final year was working on strategies for a Formula 1 team. Not only did this experience foster a deep appreciation for Formula 1, but it also exposed me to various applications of mathematics that I hadn't previously considered.”

Internships at PwC and Deloitte
Christiana gained professional experience alongside her degree to boost her employability. She said: “I've had the opportunity to work as a summer intern at both PwC and Deloitte in Cyprus. The combination of my qualifications, including my affiliation with the University of Leeds, played a significant role in securing these internships.”
Student life
Christiana joined a variety of student societies during her time at Leeds. She said: “I am actively involved in several societies, including the Badminton Society, where I also serve on the committee and team. Additionally, I'm a member of the Greek and Cypriot society, the debate society, and the motorsport society.”

Christiana has lived in student accommodation throughout her degree. She said: “Student accommodation in Leeds is typically conveniently located near both the city and the university. The majority of these accommodations are modern and feature exciting amenities such as karaoke rooms, cinemas, yoga spaces, study rooms for both individuals and groups, creating a conducive environment for student life.”

Future career goals
As she finishes her masters degree, Christiana is currently exploring her career options. She said: “In terms of my future ambitions, my overarching goal is to achieve success and happiness in both my professional and academic pursuits. While I may not have specific plans at this moment, I am motivated to work hard and make the most of opportunities that come my way, aiming for personal fulfilment and growth in all aspects of my life.”
