The project aimed to investigate the technological trends and opportunities currently transforming the otherwise technologically averse facilities management sector in United Kingdom. Specifically, we intended to review the uptake of ‘big data analytics’ and the opportunities it offers in terms of operational and business intelligence. Analytics is all about taking the real time and latent data to derive insights and make predictions about when a piece of equipment will break down or require updating. As such, it is creating enormous opportunities to drive energy management and building automation.
