Dr Junfeng Yang

Mechanical engineering plays a key role in all areas of modern mechanical systems that require advanced mechanical design, analysis, manufacturing and maintenance of product performance and functionality. The fast growth and dynamic nature of this field mandate continuous academic and professional developments.

My research interest is in Thermo- and Fluid Dynamics and I have been active in these disciplines for many years.  My current research focus on the clean combustion and more applied aspects for tackling global warming, atmospheric pollution, and energy conservation. As a Programme Manager and a Lecturer on the Mechanical Engineering course, I particularly enjoy the third year individual and fourth year team projects, as the projects I supervise align directly with the area of my research interest. The projects give the students the opportunity to apply an appropriate blend of theoretical, computational and experimental skills to the solution of an engineering problem of direct relevance to this ever-changing industry and the programme of study.

I am fully determined to provide students enrolled on this course with the best possible experience at this crucial stage of their careers. The programme is IMechE accredited, which sets the students on the right path to achieve chartered engineer status.
