The Project Management Group welcomes two new members

Professor Rodney Turner and Dr Christine Unterhitzenberger, two internationally recognised academics, have joined the School of Civil Engineering’s Project Management Group.

Professor Turner has joined the team as a Visiting Professor and Dr Unterhitzenberger as Associate Professor, both in Project Management.

The Project Management Group is undertaking world-leading research in megaprojects, sustainability, financing and resilience, as well as psycho-social aspects of project management.

The Group is also responsible for leading two Masters programmes; Engineering Project Management MSc (Eng) and International Construction Management and Engineering MSc (Eng), which both Professor Turner and Dr Unterhitzenberger will be teaching on, as well as our online Engineering Management MSc and one undergraduate programme; Civil Engineering with Project Management MEng, BEng.

Professor Rodney Turner was most recently Professor of Project Management at SKEMA Business School, in Lille France, where he was Scientific Director for the PhD in Project and Program Management, SAIPEM Professor of Project Management at the Politecnico di Milano, and Professor and High End Foreign Expert at Shanghai University.

His current research interests cover the relationship between governance and decision making on projects, stakeholders and customer experience, and the relationship between megaprojects and post-modernism.

My particular focus will be on raising the awareness of the importance of psychosocial aspects of project management in engineering and infrastructure projects.

Dr Christine Unterhitzenberger

Dr Christine Unterhitzenberger was Senior Teaching Fellow and Doctoral Director at Lancaster University Management School and Senior Lecturer and DBA Programme Leader at Liverpool John Moores University prior to joining Leeds.

Her research interests are psycho-social aspects of project management including organisational justice, governance and coping. Prior to her work in academia she worked for almost 10 years in the construction industry.

Dr Unterhitzenberger said: “I’m delighted to join the School of Civil Engineering and look forward to working with students and colleagues in the area of Engineering Project Management. My particular focus will be on raising the awareness of the importance of psycho-social aspects of project management in engineering and infrastructure projects.”
