Why did you choose to study at the University of Leeds?
I chose to study at the University of Leeds as it offered an MSc in Advanced Mechanical Engineering with the flexibility of choosing the modules of my choice. Other universities I was looking at were not offering the same flexibility. The cherry on top was the ranking of the School of Mechanical Engineering. The reputation and teaching of the faculty was one of the best in the UK.
What was it like studying your course?
The facilities available to students are marvellous for any research and teaching course. I had more practical assessments and hands-on experience of the coursework than just the theories.
What other activities outside of your studies were you involved in?
While I was studying I was aware of the Careers Centre and graduate scheme with fairs in the Edge (the University’s sports and exercise centre) hall. My CV was updated with the help of the Careers Centre’s staff. I landed my first interview and assessment centre in two months of starting my course but my heart was elsewhere in something that I wanted to do by myself and for the economy. I went to SPARK and met Brian and he recommended the bootcamp that they run for personal development and I attended a lot of networking events through the University.

What was the best aspect of the course/ the University and why? Any highlights?
I loved the campus here and felt at home. There are lot of options for food and societies to keep you engrossed and there is lots to see in Yorkshire. Also the British students are lovely to mingle with which is an advantage of a true international campus where you meet people from everywhere to learn more about them and their culture.
What would you say to students thinking about studying at Leeds?
I would love for more Indian students to come and study here as the education is top-notch and the campus is truly international. The education offered here and the reputation it holds opens lot of opportunities for a better future globally.
