Mats Vermeeren (TU Berlin) will present his research in Integrable Systems.
Many integrable hierarchies of differential equations allow a variational description, called a Lagrangian multiform structure or a pluri-Lagrangian structure.
An important question is how to relate such a structure to the more common Hamiltonian description of integrable hierarchies. Mats will present recent progress in this direction, using a strategy inspired by Dirac's theory of constraints, and discuss open questions.
