Northern Power EPSRC Inclusion Matters End of Project Workshop

The Northern Power EPSRC Inclusion Matters end of project workshop is open to anyone who is interested in equality and inclusion from a personal or organisational perspective.

We are pleased to invite you to the Northern Power EPSRC Inclusion Matters end of project workshop. This event is for anyone who is interested in equality and inclusion from a personal or organisational perspective.

The project aimed to increase attraction, development, and retention of people from traditionally under-represented groups in Engineering and Physical Sciences. The project, which was led by Durham University, involved academic and industry partners from the North of England. The University of Leeds led two workstreams – a Shared Characteristics Mentoring programme and the Project Platform. Other work streams included Reciprocal Mentoring, Leadership and Networking, Collaboration between Academia, and Industry. Many researchers from the University of Leeds coming from a broad range of underrepresented groups, such as gender, ethnicity, disability, and sexual orientation participated in the activities organised by the project team.

The project is now nearing the end and is organising a workshop to share the findings on supporting early career researchers from underrepresented groups. This will also be an opportunity to hear from colleagues from the project Advisory Board who are involved in national equality and inclusion initiatives within their organisations.

This inspiring and informative day is designed to:

  • Support Higher Education and Industry professionals in retaining and developing diverse communities of people within their organisations
  • Support individuals in making the most of personal development opportunities.

During the workshop we will discuss the activities we delivered, share the findings of the evaluation and also share with you some practical resources including a free, practitioner toolkit.
