2026 Language, Assessment & Disciplinary Specialism in UK-China Transnational Education

Building on Last Year’s Success

The inaugural conference in October 2025 achieved its core aim of creating a collaborative space where content and language specialists could share practice, pedagogy, and research, bringing together 121 participants from 51 institutions across the UK, China, and beyond. Feedback from participants was clear: one day was not enough to explore everything our community has to share, and many called for this conference to become a regular fixture in the UK-China TNE calendar. 

We are delighted to respond to that demand with this second instalment, continuing conversations started last year and offering fresh opportunities to deepen partnerships and share new outcomes.

This event remains designed for both researchers and practitioners working in TNE, as well as those interested in assessment literacy and the integration of language and disciplinary knowledge in higher education. The hybrid format ensures accessibility for colleagues across different geographical locations and time zones, whether attending in person or online. 

Key themes

As with last year, presentations and discussions will be organised around three broad, interconnected themes:
•    Integrative TNE curriculum design
•    Collaborative TNE practices
•    Assessment literacy in TNE contexts
