Professor Paul Sutcliffe (University of Durham) will be presenting a seminar on his research in condensed matter physics.
Magnetic Hopfions are three-dimensional analogues of two-dimensional magnetic skyrmions. They may be thought of as closed loops of twisted skyrmion tubes. Unlike magnetic skyrmions, magnetic Hopfions have not yet been observed experimentally.
Professor Paul Sutcliffe (University of Durham) will discuss some theoretical work predicting the existence of Magnetic Hopfions in various kinds of magnetic materials, including chiral and frustrated magnets.
The event will be hosted by Dr Satoshi Sasaki.
All are welcome to attend.
