Engineering Employability Team shortlisted for national award

The Faculty of Engineering Employability Team have been shortlisted in the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards 2017 for the ‘Best University Placement Service’.

The Awards strive to be inclusive and represent the widening pool of work experience opportunities available to students in today’s competitive market.

The ‘Best University Placement Service’ category, which the team were also shortlisted for last year, celebrates the tireless and invaluable contributions made by a university placement service in the UK to help over one hundred students apply and maximise their work experience opportunities. The category, which is sponsored by Mark & Spencer, will bring together those passionate about the industry to score and assess the nominations and pick the deserving winners.

Emily Timson, Employability Business Development Manager for the Faculty of Engineering said: ‘We were delighted to be awarded with the Most Improved Commitment to Employability award in 2016 and it’s a fantastic achievement for the Faculty Employability Team to be nominated for a third year as one of the UKs top placement teams. The faculty is hugely committed to enhancing the prospects of its students and the service we’ve been developing over the past few years has resulted in significant uptake of industrial placement years. In 2017 we launched an industry led summer internship scheme and each school runs its own internal research summer internship scheme. There are many more initiatives we support such as overseas research exchange, our placement mentors and our annual Careers fair, all of which help us deliver a wide range of work placement opportunities to our students'.

The Awards, being the only Awards of its kind in the undergraduate market, has the support of some of the industry leading bodies including AGR, ASET, PlaceNet and AGCAS. The final results will be announced at the NUE Awards Ceremony in London on Friday 23rd February.
