School of Mechanical Engineering Annual Poster Showcase

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the School of Mechanical Engineering Annual Poster Showcase.

The poster showcase allows students to present their projects to a wider audience, of peers, academics and industry professionals, gaining feedback and valuable insight on how to better their work and present to an audience. Usually, an event is reserved for year 4 students, but this time, students in year 3 were invited to enter. The posters were judged by academic and technical staff and members of the Industrial Advisory Board; Professor S Shrestha (Chair),  Keronite International Ltd, Professor S J Abbott, TCNF Ltd, Professor Philip Threlfall-Holmes, Consultant, Hande Cote, Johnson Matthey and Mitch Scott, Leeds City College.

The Board members provide a broad-based industry perspective and updates on developments within the industrial and education community to assist the School with the formulation of its teaching and research strategies. The Board also advises on the technical expertise and professional skills that employers expect from graduates, ensuring that our students get the best employment opportunities throughout their study, including placements and internships, and employment upon graduation.

The winners from Year 3, were Emma Hughes who won first prize, and David Jarad, who won second prize.

For Year 4, the first prize was Team 19, with Design and Development of a Transcatheter Heart Valve Replacement; Domitille M. Chenel, Joseph O.Lee, Julia G. Moniz and Aly M. Kamhawy.

The second prize went to Team 120, with Technical Methods of Assembly Design; Alexander J. Brown, Aidan T. Carman, William S. Hardie, Pralish Satyal, and Elliott J. Leslie.
