This talk will focus on methods for dealing effectively with digital representations of 3D shapes. In many cases, we are constrained by the need to specify shapes using particular primitives such as triangles, skeletal structures, or by the need for surfaces that can be manufactured according to specific processes such as by robotic cutting using a deformable blade. I will discuss our methodological contributions to various problems that involve designing, manufacturing or querying 3D shapes under such constraints.
