Weakly measurable cardinals and category theory

Almost strongly compact cardinals, a natural weakening of strongly compact cardinals, have arisen recently as the optimal assumptions for certain category- and model-theoretic applications.  An analogous weakening of measurability gives almost measurable cardinals.  I will talk about a recent preprint of Mike Lieberman, giving a category-theoretic perspective on almost measurable cardinals.
