Third-year Chemistry student wins place at prestigious GSK Summer School

Zac Benson, a third-year MChem student on the Chemistry with a Year in Industry programme, has secured a place on the GSK Residential Chemistry Training Experience in September.

This highly competitive programme, now in its 20th year, offers participants the opportunity to undergo lab and personal development training at the GSK Medicines Research Centre in Stevenage.

Zac, who has been working on polymeric science and rheology in his placement year with Croda, was “incredibly grateful” to explore other areas of this broad science.

He said: "I’m looking forward to experiencing a week of working within a pharmaceutical lab to expand my understanding of the chemical industry and guide me to specialisation as I am planning to apply for a PhD.

“GSK will be giving me insight into not only their style of lab work, but skills aimed at presenting, interviewing and other career-focused building apparatus, which is invaluable as I progress into my future."
