Taking Pride in the construction industry

To promote LGBT+ visibility among in the construction sector, Civil Engineering will be taking part in Leeds Pride this year.

Arup, Amey, Balfour Beatty, and WSP are among the organisations that the School will be joining. So far, 13 companies and organisations have committed their support.

For the first time, the School will be taking part in the Pride parade to represent the ambitions of the construction industry alongside people from the LGBT+ community.

The event is a great opportunity for students and staff members involved in the LGBT+ community to make new contacts with industry.

Thir entry includes a really funky digger (main picture), and the students and staff members from the School will be promoting the #BuildingEquality initiative.

Civil Engineering's participation in Leeds Pride follows on from the success of a recent LGBT STEM event. The School are aspiring to organise regular networking events for LGBT+ people and colleagues.
