Leeds student wins Keyzo National Coding Week competition
BSc Applied Computer Science student John Lack-Wilson won a national coding competition hosted by Keyzo IT Solutions Ltd last month.
Part of National Coding Week, which takes place between 18 and 22 September, the competition gives young developers the opportunity to showcase their coding skills. For the competition, aspiring software developers were invited to develop a homepage on Keyzo’s site.
As the winner, John Lack-Wilson received an all-access pass to NDC London 2018, one of the most popular software development conferences in the country. The pass, worth £1,990, includes two days of pre-conference workshops plus the three-day conference, which will take place in January.
Keyzo’s Developer, Mark Claxton, who judged the entries, said:
“John's entry particularly stood out because his web page matched the design and worked as you would expect across all desktop browsers, as well as being mobile responsive. He used great skill and techniques that pushed him ahead of the competition.

John’s success is testament of the rising talent of Leeds’ Computing students, who regularly take part in extra-curricular competitions and events, such as the Game Republic showcase, EGX 2017, and the FinTech Hackathon earlier this year.
The School of Computing at Leeds is also celebrating 60 years of success, hosting several events, presentations and celebrations this year.
