Excellent positions for engineering subjects in global league table

The University of Leeds has been ranked in top positions for engineering in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) new subject league tables.

The Shanghai Ranking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2016, published for the first time this year, placed Leeds in the top 75 Universities globally for Civil Engineering and in a top 100 position for Chemical Engineering. 

The University of Leeds was ranked in the following five engineering categories:

Civil Engineering: Top 75
Chemical Engineering: Top 100
Energy Science and Engineering: 40th 
Environmental Science and Engineering: Top 75
Mechanical Engineering: Top 200

The new subject rankings are measures of research productivity, research with high quality, research with top quality, average global research impact, extent of international collaboration, extent of academic-corporation collaboration, researchers with global academic influences, and academic awards.
