Professor’s work recognised in dedicated issue of research publication

Professor Jaafar Elmirghani and his work have been recognised and published in the March issue of IEEE Green ICT: the institute.

The IEEE, the world’s largest professional association advancing innovation and technological excellence for the benefit of humanity, has dedicated their March issue of the institute the IEEE Green ICT initiative founded and chaired by Professor Jaafar Elmirghani from the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.

The issue which includes a special report on Greener Technologies and Networks as well as a profile on Professor Jaafar Elmirghani and his work, details the initiative’s efforts in raising awareness of how to design more energy-efficient technologies. 

This is not the first time, Professor Elmirghani’s research has been recognised by the green communications community as being pivotal and highly influential both nationally and internationally. Last month, Professor Elmirghani together with six colleagues from GreenTouch received the prestigious 2016 Edison Award for work on the GreenTouch GreenMeter, which aims to green the Internet and improve the energy efficiency of communication networks by a factor of 1000. In 2015, Professor Elmirghani received a further two key awards in the field, the 2015 IEEE Comsoc outstanding service award for ‘Leadership and contributions to the area of green communications’ and the 2015 GreenTouch 1000x award for ‘Pioneering research contributions to the field of energy efficiency in telecommunications’.
