Success at SET Awards

Faith Bateman, a recent graduate from the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, has won the “Science, Engineering & Technology Student of the Year” award.

The award is in the materials category at this year's Science, Engineering & Technology Student of the Year Awards (SET Awards). The materials category was sponsored by Morgan Crucible.

The SET Awards are Europe's most important awards for science, engineering and technology undergraduates. Supported by Industry, and leading scientific and technical institutions, the awards are multidisciplinary to reflect the wide range of degrees universities have to offer.

Faith’s entry was based on her 4th year MEng project, which focussed on DNA scaffolding for molecular nanomaterials. She was required to submit a poster and narrative, as well as attending an interview. Faith’s 4th year project supervisor, Professor Christoph Walti attended the prize giving ceremony with her and described the award as an outstanding achievement.
