Institution of Chemical Engineers Award win
A team of researchers from the University of Leeds together with partners from Sellafield Ltd have been awarded the 2012 Core Chemical Engineering Award by the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
The Leeds team was led by Simon Biggs and Tim Hunter of the School of Process, Environmental and Materials Engineering along with Jeff Peakall from the School of Earth and Environment. The Award recognises recent research between the University team and their industry partners to develop novel ultrasonic technology for the real-time monitoring of complex engineering processes in harsh conditions.
The work arises from the School's partnership with Sellafield in the 'Sludge Centre of Expertise' continuing our support to the industry for the clean-up of legacy nuclear waste in the UK.
Now in their 19th year, the IChemE Awards recognise and reward chemical engineering innovation and excellence. The Awards celebrate both individual and team achievement and are recognised and highly regarded throughout the international chemical, process and biochemical engineering community.
TV presenter and journalist Colin Murray was the host for the evening’s event at the Mercure Piccadilly Hotel in Manchester.
