Medical Engineers attend the Otley Science Festival

Ten staff and PhD students from the Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (iMBE) attended the Otley Science Festival on 9th November 2013.

They interacted with the general public through interactive exhibits. Visitors to the stand ranged from toddlers to pensioners, and everyone in between!

Activities were used to highlight the research on-going within the iMBE, including ‘Build a Human Knee’, Human Body at Your Finger Tips: 3D Virtual Visualisation, interaction with 3D images and computer models of spine, knee or hip medical interventions (such as hip implants) and a demonstration of the soft tissues in the knee joint to show decellularisation of tissues.

The Otley Science Festival takes place every year with the aim of raising the profile of scientific subjects of all kinds by introducing new aspects of science, increasing children's interest in science careers and bringing nationally regarded and talented speakers to Otley.
