Mathematics and Physical Sciences Employability Team winners of national award
The Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences Employability Team have won the ‘Most Improved Commitment to Employability’ category in the National Undergraduate Employability (NUE) Awards 2018.
The Awards strive to be inclusive and represent the widening pool of work experience opportunities available to students in today’s competitive market.
The ‘Most Improved Commitment to Employability’ category celebrates the increased commitment provided by a university department, placement or careers service in helping students apply and maximise their work experience opportunities. The category, which is sponsored by SAP, brings together those passionate about the industry to score and assess the nominations and pick the deserving winners.
The Employability Team impressed the judges with what they have managed to achieve. They devised a faculty-wide ‘Employability Lecture Programme’ and orchestrated summer boot camps for students graduating without work experience. Since starting the service from 2016, their commitment to raising awareness of employability within traditionally non-vocational subjects has been outstanding.
