Cloud computing testbed | Cloud computing cluster comprising 14 high performance Poweredge servers, a cloud gateway and a data server head node. Runs OpenNebula Virtual Infrastructure Manager. Used for teaching and research. |

Diamond Leeds SAXS Facility | The tailored instrument for high-resolving X-ray scattering experiments offers open access to Leeds and other UK-users around the year for the nanostructural fine-analysis of complex soft matter, polymers, bio-materials and advanced solid materials. |
Flow-Xl: A New UK Facility for Analysis of Crystallisation in Flow Systems | Flow-Xl enables the in-situ, time-resolved characterisation of crystallisation processes in highly controlled environments using combined X-ray diffraction and Raman Spectroscopy. |
High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) | HPLC systems provide rapid analysis of mixtures and the production of high quality purified materials, particularly where classical separation methods are unsuccessful. |
Leeds electron microscopy and spectroscopy centre | LEMAS is part of the Bragg Centre for Materials Research and is jointly run by the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and the School of Earth & Environment at Leeds. It aims to develop and underpin Imaging and characterisation techniques for the examination of the morphology, structure and chemical composition of Advanced Materials, including soft materials, drawn from the physical, engineering and geosciences. |
Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA) | LIDA's integrated research campus supports large scale research through infrastructure training and services for secure data handling. |
Leeds Nanotechnology Cleanroom | The 800 m2 Leeds Nanotechnology Cleanroom offers a broad range of fabrication capabilities, including: Photo- and electron beam- lithography, contact and non-contact metrology, physical and chemical vapour deposition, dry etch and deposition, wafer and device bonding, and annealing capabilities, in addition to test, packaging and post-processing. |
Mass spectrometry | Our mass spectrometry facilities provide cutting edge, highly sensitive determination of molecular weight and analysis of mixtures. |
Microfluidics and interfacial fluid mechanics | Supports fundamental and applied research to understand and control the fluid flow environment, essential for addressing efficiency of industrial processes and in creating milli- and micro-scale flow devices to assess the role of flow in chemical and biological systems. |
Molecular beam epitaxy facility | Our in-house Oxford Instruments V80H III–V MBE machine gives us the ability to grow layered compound semiconductor structures |
Nanoscience and nanotechnology facility | This facility is for the characterisation analysis of soft matter systems such as hybrid organic/inorganic system. |
NMR spectroscopy | Solution/liquid state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy across five spectrometers operating at 7.05, 9.4, 11.75 (x2) and 14.1 T, corresponding to 1H Larmor frequencies of 300, 400, 500 and 600 MHz respectively. |
Particle and materials characterisation | Analytical facilities for characterisation of particles, powders, slurries, suspensions, emulsions and solutions. |
Robotic liquid handling and screening | Plate based screening methods enable high throughput assays to be performed. These assays are accelerated where the robotic liquid handler can be used for plate preparation. |

X-ray diffraction | Our facility offers both single crystal and powder X-ray analysis, ranging from simple bulk powder analysis through to crystal structure solution and refinement. |
X-ray diffraction facility | The x-ray diffraction facility is a part of the Bragg Centre for Materials Research.<br><br>Located in the fittingly named Bragg Building, after Sir William Henry Bragg and Lawrence Bragg who won the 1915 Nobel Prize for ‘their services in the analysis of crystal structure by means of X-rays’ while Sir William Henry Bragg was a Professor at Leeds between 1909 and 1915. |
