Mapping the Underworld (MTU)
Qingxu Dou, Artificial Intelligence research theme, School of Computing
Abstract: In this week’s colloquium, I will give a presentation about a project I have been working on, Mapping the Underworld (MTU). First, I will give a summary of the project, including the project aims, the main partners, the sensors used in this project and why we need MTU. Second, I will introduce the sensor data such as the B-scan images from Ground Penetrating Radar, Vibro-Acoustics and Passive Magnetic Field and some techniques designed for processing the data. And then, the algorithms for generating the map of the buried assets based on sensor data, statutory records and street furniture survey in a local area are discussed. The presentation is terminated by displaying some experimental results.
