Fabrication of robotic systems

Abstract: In August 2013, the University of Leeds was awarded funds to create the EPSRC national facility for innovative robotic systems. A University wide initiative, this facility has the aim of being the world leading facility for robotic fabrication.
This presentation will explore the challenges for physically creating better robots through several application examples including, robots for pyramid exploration and miniature robots for laparoscopic surgery. Then, the capabilities of the EPSRC national facility for innovative robotic systems will be presented, along with some of the possibilities it offers.
