We establish a connection between algebraic formulation of classical integrability by r-matrix structure on coadjoint orbits vs. Lax pairs.  We then prove the identity between relevant r-matrix structures in "dual" Lax representations for integrable classical 1+1 dimensional theories represented in the  AKNS formalism.
