Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) partnership

Our partnership with Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) provides a pathway with our School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, enabling students to graduate from both institutions in an accelerated timescale.

This ‘1+1’ programme allows students who have successfully completed year one of their Masters programme at BUPT to progress directly to a Leeds MSc. Students successfully completing this two-year study period are awarded a Masters degree from BUPT and a Masters degree from Leeds.

Entry requirements

For admission to Leeds you’ll need to have completed a relevant BUPT undergraduate degree with a GPA of at least 70% (or completed an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject area with at least a 2.1 or equivalent e.g. a GPA of at least 75-85% from a recognised Chinese institution). You will also need to have satisfied the selection criteria for the relevant BUPT’s Masters programme and achieve the English language requirement of IELTS 6.5 overall (with no less than 6.0 in each component) or an equivalent English language qualification.

Improve your English

If you do not meet the English language requirements for Leeds you may be able to study our pre-sessional English course, to help improve your English language level. The pre-sessional course is designed with a progression route to your degree programme and you’ll learn academic English in the context of your subject area. To find out more, read Language for Engineering (6 weeks) and Language for Science: Engineering (10 weeks).  If you need to study for longer than 10 weeks, read more about our postgraduate pre-sessional English course.

Fees and scholarships

Once you are enrolled at Leeds you’ll receive a scholarship towards the international tuition fee; this is provided as a partial fee waiver for the programme at Leeds.  Please contact Dr Li X Zhang (Leeds) or Wang Wenhua (BUPT) for further information about this scholarship.
