Six lessons from thirty years of megaproject delivery

A reflection by John Oliver, newly appointed Visiting Professor in the School of Civil Engineering, on his career in megaproject delivery.

John has more than 30 years’ experience in the energy sector, where he has delivered a diverse range of major projects around the world. Most recently he led a major programme to expand one of the world’s largest oil and gas fields, in Kazakhstan. John is currently the Projects Director at Sellafield Ltd. responsible for the safe delivery of multi million pound projects, which will play a vital role in the Sellafield sites ongoing hazard and risk reduction programmes.
