Joel Deladem Klo

Joel Deladem Klo

Joel Deladem Klo graduated from the School of Computing where he studied his masters in Advanced Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence).

Postgraduate life at Leeds

Joel chose to study at the University of Leeds as he was attracted by the opportunity to take optional modules. Now working as a Big Data Engineer for bigspark limited, he said “This was really amazing because, even though my Masters was an Advanced Computer Science with a focus in Artificial Intelligence MSc, I got the opportunity to take Big Data related modules as well which was an additional key area of interest as evidenced by my current role.”

He added, “It’s really good provision as it enables students to be experts of related fields and not just boxed into a single space, thereby increasing the number of career opportunities students can access.”

Projects at the university

During his time at the university, Joel worked on developing an Image Classification model and an Image Caption Generation model (both based on Artificial Neural Networks). Additionally, for his dissertation, he had the chance to develop an Immigration Advisor Chatbot.

Life at Leeds

Outside of studying, there are plenty of activities and societies students can take part in. Joel added, “I was a member of the Leeds Chess Society and School Chess Team; taking part in some inter-university tournaments and local chess leagues.”
