Profile

I am currently a PhD student within the Architecture and Urbanism Research Group under the School of Civil Engineering. I have a background in urban planning with interest in urban design, design guidelines, and management. Prior to Leeds, I worked in the public sector in Auckland, New Zealand, within the resource consent department at the Auckland Council and for a fixed-term in the urban design panels at a central government agency focusing on housing, Kāinga Ora. My previous experience in Indonesia started in research, then I moved on to a private consultancy following my postgraduate study. Afterward, I returned to academia at School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development (SAPPD) ITB as a research associate, working on topics such as housing, creative cities, land banking, and sustainable urban heritage. My time as academics also allowed me to work with local and national governments preparing multiple spatial plans and urban design guidelines. I got involved in teaching assistantship to the following graduate courses: Advanced Urban Planning (a joint studio between SAPPD ITB and University of Sydney), Urban Design Control, Urban Planning and Development Studio; and the following undergraduate courses: Site Planning Studio, Urban Planning Studio, and Introduction to Urban Design. During my time at ITB, I took part in preparing the study program accrediation for both National and International standards.

Research interests

My PhD research investigates the complexity of power dimension of design governance through systems approach. For this, I am taking on public spaces in a large-scale development area as a case study. The main question guiding my research is how the powe dynamics shape the decision-making process and how the decision manifests in physical form.
