Abdulrahman came to the University of Leeds to pursue a Masters in Engineering Project Management. He was inspired by the University’s strong engineering reputation, emphasis on research and diverse community.

“The best aspect of studying my course has been its practical approach to learning”, said Abdulrahman. “Real-world project simulations and industry collaborations enhance our understanding and application of project management principles.”

The most inspiring aspect is the focus on value engineering practices, and how we can implement effective value management to achieve efficient and effective goals.

Wider impacts

A key consideration of any course is how studying it helps us change the world later on – something Abdulrahman’s course has facilitated. “I have taken lectures focused on sustainable development and project management, which have been integrated into our coursework and activities. Engineering Project Management is crucial for the successful completion of infrastructure and technology projects that impact our daily lives, from transportation systems to energy solutions.”

Looking ahead

Abdulrahman has big ambitions after university. “I am to lead large-scale engineering projects that prioritise sustainability and innovation, contributing to the development of my country (Saudi Arabia) and to aid in achieving our Vision 2030. The hands-on project work, industry collaborations and exposure to cutting-edge research at Leeds will provide me with the skills and knowledge I need to advance in my career.
