Molly Williams
- Course: Chemistry BSc
Why did you choose the University of Leeds?
It was the only university that I looked at that I felt at home and could visualise my student life at.
Why did you choose to study chemistry?
I have always had a passion for chemistry and I have always enjoyed the challenge of the mathematical side.
What do you like most about your course?
The lectures. As much as chemistry is a practical course, I love the theory behind chemistry more than the practical itself.
What skills have you gained from your course so far?
I've learnt how to use excel and Origen in depth, so I'd say that I've definitely gained computer skills.
Can you describe what student life at Leeds is like?
A typical day for me would be waking up for a 9am lecture, followed by 3 hours of lab. I have a lunch break at 1 till 3. I then have a workshop from 3 till 4. Followed by my discovery module from 5 till 6.
What were you most worried about before arriving at university?
Making friends - however that hasn’t been an issue because everyone has been in the same position.
What do you like most about being a student so far/what has been your best experience?
Meeting new people and having fun with the experience of looking after myself.
Is there is anything which particularly surprised you about being a student?
How much you have to do on your own. You forget the little things that your parents do for you when you are at home.
What do you plan to do at the end of your course?
Currently I plan on going on to do a PGCE and become a teacher.
Are there any other comments that you would like to make about being a student at the University of Leeds?
I love being a student at the University of Leeds and I am very excited for the next few years of my life here.
