Why did you decide to study a masters at the University of Leeds?
In my view, success is a combination of knowledge and lifestyle. My previous experience during the bachelor's degree at the University of Leeds provided me with exposure to diverse aspects of life at different scales academically, socially, and spiritually.
Leeds University is one of the top reputable universities in the world, it possesses outstanding learning resources including well-qualified lecturers, engineering laboratories, contemporary libraries, as well as introducing technology in teaching methods. The university is classified as one of the top ten in the UK in the Electrical & Electronic Engineering and named as the University of the year. All these factors have made it easy to choose Leeds University to complete my master's degree.
What has been the best aspect of studying on your course and at the University so far and why?
What makes the experience is unique at Leeds University is the approach of delivering knowledge. An integration of lectures, laboratory sessions, projects and self-learning, which are all supported by professional lecturers, a variety of learning facilities and accessibility to enormous academic recourses. As a result, I have gained engineering knowledge in a wide range of aspects theoretically and technically. One of the interesting modules during my master’s degree was Medical Electronic and E-health, whereby I learned via lectures and laboratories about how Electronics Engineering Technology is implemented in medical applications and healthcare, their advantages and potential methods of development.
Tell us about some of the exciting projects you have completed.
One of the projects I really enjoyed during the journey was my final project. The subject was "Optimization of The Optical Characteristic of Semiconductor Quantum Well Based Devices", which had included both theoretical and computational aspects. Through the completion steps, l learned to work efficiently by improving my time management skills which will help in my future career. Participating in one to one meetings with my final project supervisor has improved my confidence and the overall contribution which will benefit me when working with colleagues/managers. I gained rich knowledge regarding problem-solving, designing different structures of the quantum well based on research, and implementing these designs in the code's development using MATLAB program. It seems challenging at the start as of any new project, however, with dedication, effort, and extensive reading to learn the physics behind, it is indeed achievable. Being part of Leeds University provided me with the continuous support and guidance during the completion of my project’s objectives as well as my supervisor, Dr. Dragan Indjin, who with no doubts had a significant reflection on the success of the project.
What does Leeds as a city have to offer students?

Geographically speaking, Leeds city will make traveling easier than expected both locally around the UK or to Europe with its international airport.
What are your ambitions for the future?
My ambition is to contribute in the country (Kuwait) development, including industrial growth on an engineering level, introducing advanced technology in different sectors, improving academic research and learning methods, as well as reinforcing cultural coexistence of different backgrounds. On a bigger scale (worldwide), I aim to participate in improving people’s quality of life, especially via education and public health.
What experiences at Leeds do you think will help you in your future career?
Being more independent and having new friends from different countries offered me a diverse experience which will be rewarding in my career.
What would you say to students coming to do the same course?
The course is challenging and required lots of hard work, but the sense of the accomplishment is not like any other. You should always put in mind motivation, dedication and commitment will yield positive results.
