Dalip Bhadare
- Course: Financial Mathematics BSc (International)
Dalip Bhadare studies Financial Mathematics BSc and has created some great relationships from working collaboratively with his coursemates.
Choosing Leeds
Before moving to study at Leeds Dalip said “I had heard lots of good things about the University of Leeds, so I came to visit. Leeds had everything I was looking for - vibrant city life, its own campus within walking distance of the city, not too far from home, great facilities and a top-level reputation.”
Mathematics was one of Dalip’s strongest subject while a school and said “I had no idea where I wanted my future career to be and maths was a subject that I thought would leave me with a lot of opportunities.”
Maths at Leeds
Whilst at Leeds Dalip has made some fantastic relationships with his course mates and enjoyed working together with them. He said “My life has been made much easier by everyone helping each other.2
Student life
Leeds is great fun. I knew I wanted to be at a university with a buzzing city life and Leeds is definitely that.
Leeds is a great place to meet new people and get involved with new actives. Dalip said “There is always something going on, something to get involved in, you just have to put yourself out there and learn to effectively manage your time. I'm involved in the Maths Society, Trading and Investments Society, and Leeds Sikh Society.

It has everything. It's great for shopping, there are lots of nice restaurants and the nightlife regularly offers something different. Headingley is also a busy area with a strong student population and Leeds is very close to Harrogate and York which are lovely places to visit.”
Looking ahead
Dalip has accepted a graduate position at an accountancy firm starting in September. He said “I spent much of this year researching what I wanted to do as a career and I feel like this is a strong next step for me. I will be assisting clients on a day-to-day basis alongside studying for my ACA accountancy qualification.”
Future students
When asked what he would say to future students, Dalip said “I would say research your choice of subject and be as sure as you can.
I have no regrets studying mathematics but it has been challenging at times, as I imagine all degrees are. You do not want to be in a position where you feel you have chosen the wrong subject after a year.
Be confident in choosing a course you feel you will be happy to study for at least 3 years, so ask all the questions and do all the research you need to make the best decision.”
