Profile
Dr Kosarieh is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (CEng) with extensive international academic and engineering expertise. He has spearheaded numerous R&D endeavors throughout his career across the automotive, lubricant, and coating industries. His research approach seamlessly integrates theoretical and experimental methodologies, leveraging cutting-edge analytical tools and materials testing to dissect the intricate interactions between functional surfaces in dry and lubricated conditions. In addition to his research pursuits, he has a rich background in education, having instructed courses at the BSc, MSc, and PhD levels covering subjects such as tribology, surface engineering, thermofluids, solid mechanics, and engineering mathematics. His teaching experience has allowed him to impart his knowledge and expertise to the next generation of engineers.

Research interests
Dr Kosarieh’s research interests are predominantly in the field of braking systems, surface engineering, tribology and tribochemistry of hard (thin and thick) coatings. His current research employs a mixture of experimental and theoretical techniques to gain a better understanding of interactions between innovative coatings and functional surfaces in the dry and lubricated contacts. His areas of research involve actively using a wide range of materials testing and analytical tools including: bench-top tribometers, nano-indentation, AFM, FTIR, SEM/EDX, XPS, Raman Spectroscopy, etc.
