Dr Roopika Ravikanna

Profile

Roopika is a KTP Associate in Machine Learning and CNC Process Automation at the University of Leeds, UK working in collaboration with the Morvern Group. Based at the industry partner site in Derby, her research focuses on developing and deploying intelligent automation solutions for defect detection and correction in cermaic core manufacturing. Her work shall integrate advanced machine learning and computer vision techniques to identify structural anomalies in ceramic cores, followed by automated G-Code generation for CNC-based defect remediation.

She holds a PhD in Human Aware Task Allocation for Autonomous Agricultural Robots from the University of Lincoln, UK where she developed predictive robotic systems for fruit transportation and intelligent robot parking in commercial farms. Her interdisciplinary expertise spans Robotics, AI, Human-Robot Interaction, Project Management with technical proficiency in Python, C++, ROS and Matlab.

Her research has been published in leading venues including TAROS, HRI and IEEE-ROMAN and she has received Award for Best Application Paper at TAROS 2023, University of Cambridge. Roopika also hold two MSc degrees in Robotics from University of Lincoln, UK and University of Sheffield, UK, and a BEng in Robotics and Automation from PSG College of Technology, India.

She is passionate about integration of academic innovation with industrial impact, driving forward intelligent manufacturing through collaborative engineering and applied AI.
