Profile
Based in the School of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Leeds, my research focuses at using a combination of modelling, theory and simulation to study “advanced materials and manufacturing processes” that are complex due to multiscale nature of materials, the rheology of fluid, and multiphysics phenomena in which the interactions of various effects (thermal, chemical, electric or mechanical) lead to complex dynamics. Most of my research is motivated by processing and manufacturing of different materials (ceramics, polymers, and [nano-]composites) used in energy storage systems (batteries and fuel cells).
Responsibilities
- Deputy Director of Postgraduate Research
Research interests
My research interests generally focus on multiscale/multiphase flow and heat transfer modelling in porous media with engineerig/industrial applications. Some examples are
- Numerical modelling of ceramic manufacturing for energy applications (such as battery electrode coating)
- Modelling of thin ceramic drying (battery electrode drying)
- Modelling of battery electrode calendering
- Numerical modelling of additive manufacturing of ceramics/polymers/composites
- Numerical modelling of thermal management of batteries
Qualifications
- PhD; MSc; BSc
Professional memberships
- CEng MIMechE
