Optimization free measures of quantum resources

Mr Nikolaos Kollas, from the Department of Theoretical Physics, University of Patras, Greece. Theoretical Physics Seminar.

In this talk we will introduce the theory of quantum resources. By presenting the basic principles of the theory and a few examples we will discuss how to geometrically measure the amount of resource present in a state and the cases in which this can be done analytically.

Finally by applying the formalism to the resource theory of coherence we will show how the notion of a projective coarse-grained measurement needs to be modified in order for it to be correctly interpreted as a measurement which provides less information about a system's true state than the one obtained from a finer-grained measurement.
