I'm in my 1st year of my PhD
What is your research project?
I'm investigating liquid crystalline optical properties for application.
What makes you passionate about what you are studying?
The possibility of helping progress research towards helping people.
Why did you decide to do a research degree?
Because I enjoyed my undergraduate research project and wanted to continue doing what I enjoyed.
Why Leeds?
The physics department here is amazing, with friendly staff and student alike.
How would you describe an average day in the life of a Leeds research student?
Lots of coffee, lots of trying to figuring things out in the lab and lots of fun discussions.
What do you like best about your School?
The people.
What has been the most challenging aspect of your PhD?
Getting to grips with a new topic
What have you enjoyed most about your PhD?
The fact that my day to day is enjoyable and time doesn’t drag. There is never enough time in the day!
What would you say to other research students thinking of coming to Leeds University to study for a PhD?
You won’t regret choosing Leeds.
