Dr Justin F Gallagher FHEA CEng IMechE is a teaching and research fellow in the Institute of Design, Robotics and Optimisation (iDRO), School of Mechanical Engineering. His research focuses on rehabilitation robotics for the recovery of patients with neurological conditions such as Stroke and Cerebral Palsy. His teaching is focused on Computers in Engineering Analysis, Dynamics and Control, Medical Mechatronics and student based projects. He has strong ties with industry, having run several businesses in Engineering and IT.
Research interests
Dr Gallagher’s research interests include developing hardware and software for rehabilitation systems, internet of things applications, serious rehabilitation games development and evaluating potential business opportunities for the technology. He is also responsible for developing systems and collaborations for the ReLOAD project, putting engineering experiments online for learning and improving engineering pedagogy. He supervises several PhD projects and undergraduate projects at level 3 and 4.
