Profile
2023-now Assistant Professor, School of Mechanical Engineering, University of Leeds
2020-2023 Assistant Professor, Centre for Manufacturing and Materials, Coventry University
2018-2020 Research Associate (EPSRC), NanoLAB Research Centre, University of Sheffield
2016-2018 Research Fellow (EPSRC), Advanced Materials Research Group, University of Nottingham
2011-2016 Research Assistant and PhD researcher, School of Materials, University of Manchester
Research interests
Surface engineering for protection of metals against extreme environmental degradation (e.g. oxidation, corrosion and wear) including:
(1) thermal barrier coatings on Ni-based superalloys gas turbines
(2) corrosion resistant coatings on Steels in superheated steam boilers
(3) wear resistant Titanium Alloys and Titanium Matrix Composites
My work is validated by innovative electron microscopy approaches (SEM, FIB, and TEM) and thermodynamic calculation allowing detailed understanding of the relationship between microstructure, phase, composition and performance.
