Rob Brittain

Profile

I am a second-year PhD student in the department of Mechanical Engineering. I recently completed my MSc in Materials Science and Engineering.  I joined the Institute of Functional Surfaces in 2017 as part of the Centre for Doctoral training in integrated Tribology (iT-CDT).

Research interests

My work focuses on the mechanisms for reductions in friction and wear in diamond-like carbon – graphene nanocomposite thin films. I use a variety of techniques in order to study and characterize the thin films that are made in-house using PECVD.
