Research interests

My research investigates the manufacture of functional nanoscale structures using 3D Tribo-Nanoprinting, and consists of two parts.

Firstly, I aim to understand the effects of contact conditions on the growth of ZDDP tribofilms formed using Atomic Force Microscopy.

Secondly, I am using larger scale tribometers to generate ZDDP tribofilms into which conductive additives (such as graphene and copper nanoparticles) have been incorporated, in the hope of inducing current flow within the films.

The outcome of this work is hoped to be a methodology for generating and modifying tribofilms with functional engineering properties.
