Amy Tran

Profile

I am a first year PhD student in the Institute  of Medical and Biological Engineering.

In 2022, I graduated from the University of Leeds with an Integrated Masters in Mechanical Engineering. During my studies, I completed an industrial placement year in Munich, Germany for a company called EnOcean. I used CAD software combined with 3D printers to optimise sensor housings and design and manufacture test jigs for use in-house.

After graduating, I worked in the medical device industry for 2 years designing sustainable keyhole surgery equipment, before returning to the University of Leeds to complete my PhD.

Research interests

My PhD involves research into the the biomechanics and wear of a novel modular tray for an all-polymer total knee replacement.
