Research interests

I am interested in human and animal behaviour. My research focuses on how agents learn from the world around them, make decisions and take actions to achieve their goals. In particular, I develop models of collective behaviour, where agents influence each other, and study the emergent effects that make the group different to the individual.

I also study mathematical models of evolutionary dynamics. My research in this area focuses on models of macroevolution – the diversification of different species through time. I develop models for the generation of phylogenies, the patterns of genetic and morphological differences between species, and the expected distribution of fossil evidence in the history of life.
