Dr Olujide Samuel Sanni

Dr Sanni has a good background knowledge of Materials Science and Engineering with BSc and MSc degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Lagos respectively. Obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leeds. Specifically carried out extensive research in scaling in oilfield dealing with mineral scale problems for the Flow Assurance and Scale Team (FAST) - a joint industry project led by Leeds and Heriot Watt Universities which includes about 20 oil and gas companies. Works in multidisciplinary research teams with collaboration from the industries, exploring real-life challenges to improve understanding and drive new strategies.

Research interests

  • Mechanisms and kinetics of bulk/surface mineral scale formation
  • Inhibition and mitigation techniques in single and multiphase flow systems
  • Enhanced thermal-stability and retention of scale inhibitors for HP/HT environments
  • Development of antifouling and self-cleaning materials
  • Fouling in arduous environments
  • Engineering solutions for scaling in domestic appliances
