Dr Wan Ting Sow

Profile

I am a Lecturer in Materials Science and Engineering. I hold a BEng degree in Materials Engineering with First Class Honours and a PhD degree under the Nanyang President Graduate Scholars program from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. I began my research career in the industry as a Principal R&D Engineer working for Delta EMEA in the Advanced Materials team. While at Delta research centre, I worked on the company’s in-house Materials Intelligence platform and developed protective biomaterials for room-temperature-stable PCR reagents for the company’s DELBio team. I then transitioned to academia, specializing in the field of biomaterials.

Research interests

The research in my group focuses on the design and synthesis of biocompatible materials for targeted, on-demand drug and gene delivery. We actively explore cutting-edge techniques in materials fabrication, including 3D printing, electrospinning, ice templating, inkjet printing, and microfluidic emulsion self-assembly. These techniques are meticulously adapted and optimized to handle delicate biomaterials and therapeutic compounds, such as proteins and DNA. Our methodology encompasses a strong interdisciplinary aspect, involving activities such as material creation and analysis, biocompatibility testing, evaluating their efficacy against diseases and cancer threats, and collaborating closely with clinicians to address global health issues.
