Profile
I am a Research Fellow in the School of Civil Engineering with a focus on the chemistry of cement materials. I am part of the MUSE (Multi-scale engineering of alkali-activated concretes for sustainable infrastructure) group led by Prof. Susan Bernal, working on developing novel low-carbon cements from activated clays. Before joining the University of Leeds, I was a post-doctoral researcher with Prof. Karen Scrivener in the Laboratory of Construction Materials, EPFL, with a Swiss Government Excellence Post-Doctoral Fellowship, where I tried to study the chemistry of belite in Portland cements.
I received my PhD in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India in 2019. My doctoral research was a part of the global Low Carbon Cement Project funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation. The objective of my research was to understand the hydration and microstructure development in limestone calcined clay cements (LC3) and to develop a framework for optimising the LC3 blend compositions. The thesis was supervised by Dr. Shashank Bishnoi.
