Professor Kevin Morris to lead School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering from September
The Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences is pleased to welcome Professor Kevin Morris as the new Head of the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering from September 2022.
Professor Kevin Morris has been appointed Head of the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Kevin joins the University of Leeds following his work from the University of Bristol, where he has been Head of Department and currently leads the research group on Communication Systems and Networks. His personal research interests are in radio frequency engineering, for which he has obtained significant funding from research councils and Government departments, as well as from industry.
Welcoming the appointment, Executive Dean of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Professor Nora de Leeuw, said: “I am very pleased that Kevin Morris has accepted the position and I would like to warmly welcome him to the University and our Faculty.
Kevin’s extensive leadership experience in higher education in the UK, his active research programme, and his advocacy for Electronics as a career through his involvement with the UK Electronics Skills Foundation, will be hugely valuable to the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and University more generally. I look forward very much to working with Kevin in the future.”
The Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences would like to take this opportunity to thank his predecessor, Professor Robert Kelsall, for his long and dedicated service as Head of School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering over the last 6 years.
Robert Kelsall’s research interests are in semiconductor materials and devices and he has published over 350 papers in international journals and at national/international conferences.
Professor Kelsall said: “thanks to the constant support and friendship I’ve received both from my colleagues in the School and from the wider Faculty and University community, it has been my pleasure and privilege to serve as Head of Electronic & Electrical Engineering over the last 6 years.”
Kevin Morris will join the University on 12th September 2022.
