Pedro Chavarrias

Profile

I am a PhD candidate in Computing at the University of Leeds. I hold a BSc in Biomedical Engineering and an MSc in Computer Science from Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico. I was a research assistant in the Extreme Bionics project at the Biomechatronics Lab from Tecnologico de Monterrey in collaboration with the Biomechatronics Group from MIT Media Lab. My Master’s thesis was focused on detection and classification of gastrointestinal diseases using deep learning techniques. My PhD project is focused on generating a 3D reconstruction of the colon to assist clinicians during a colonoscopy intervention.

Research interests

My research interests include traditional computer vision and deep learning-based techniques for depth and camera pose estimation for 3D reconstruction. More precisely, I study different methods to assist clinicians in navigating and analysing the gastrointestinal tract during a colonoscopy intervention.
